Welcome to our little corner of the internet.

You'll have to excuse the mess. I'm still figuring out where everything goes. Can I get you anything? Water? Coffee? Tampon? No? No problem.

Well, I'm Caitlin, and I somehow ended up running this whole thing.

Firstly, thank you for being here. Whether you've stumbled across us completely by accident, followed a QR code, found one of our crates, or someone simply pointed you in our direction, I'm really glad you've stopped by.

The Period Crate actually started in the least glamorous way imaginable. Not with a business plan, a funding application or a particularly inspiring lightbulb moment. It started with an email. One email, sent far later than any sensible person should still have been awake.

I won't bore you with every twist and turn that led me here because, truthfully, there wasn't much of a grand plan. I just wasn't happy with what I was seeing.

I couldn't understand why something as ordinary and unavoidable as having a period could become such a barrier to everyday life. Why people were having to budget for pads before groceries. Why missing school, work or university because you couldn't afford period products had somehow become something we'd quietly accepted.

The more I thought about it, the more I realised I didn't just want to talk about the problem.

I wanted to do something about it.

So I started small.

One crate.

Filled with free period products.

No forms to fill in. No questions to answer. No explaining yourself. Just a quiet promise that if you needed something, it would be there.

Since then, The Period Crate has become so much more than I ever imagined. It's grown into a network of community crates across Hull, educational resources, Menstrual Mail, new partnerships, and, most importantly, a community of people who believe that looking after one another shouldn't be revolutionary.

You'll probably notice that we don't just talk about periods here.

We talk about feminism, healthcare, inequality, education, women's bodies, the things people don't always feel comfortable discussing.

I like to think of this website as less of an organisation's homepage and more of a little community space. Somewhere you can learn something new, discover a resource you didn't know existed, support the project if you're able to, or simply have a wander around.

So, make yourself comfortable.
